As a poet and writer, Sarah was published by Candlestick Press within a poetry Anthology entitled “Ten poems about Black history” edited by Dr Panya Banjoko. Two of her monologues were also published within the “Hear me now” collection.
As a creative, Sarah started out as a teen on the spoken word circuit, performing, writing and facilitating. She worked closely with Michelle ‘Mother’ Hubbard for a number of years, helping to run the Blackdrop open mic night.


As a spoken word artist, she has performed and written poetry for a variety of commissions and events including the Takeover Festival, Derby Book festival, writing for the anniversary of the ‘Wind Rush’ generation to the UK, the Big Session Festival, Ken Saro Wiwa anniversary, The Primary Gallery at The Welbeck estate and other regional and national events. In addition, as a performance poet, she has performed alongside and in support of several writers, including Benjamin Zephaniah, Lemn Sissay and Salena Godden.
Sarah then transitioned to writing for the stage during her writing attachment at New Perspectives theatre (2014-15) where she wrote her first short play ‘Notts Sweet Home’ which was part of a short regional tour.
